Triliumnext MCP

🚀 TriliumNext Notes MCP Server

A Model Context Protocol server for interacting with TriliumNext Notes instances. This server provides tools to operate your Trilium notes via MCP.

⚠️ Important Note

This is a prototype for https://github.com/TriliumNext/Notes/issues/705. It is only recommended for developers. Please back up your Trilium notes before using this tool.

💡 Update

Supports the latest TriliumNext v0.92.6 version.

💡 Usage Tip

It is recommended to use the Cline extension in VSCode instead of Claude Desktop.

🚀 Quick Start

Make sure to set the environment variables first:

• TRILIUM_API_URL (Default: http://localhost:8080/etapi)
• TRILIUM_API_TOKEN (Required, obtained from your Trilium Notes settings)

📦 Installation

1. Using Claude Desktop

Add the server configuration to your Claude Desktop configuration file:

Location of the configuration file:

• Windows: %APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
• MacOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

✨ Features

The server provides the following note management tools:

• search_notes - Search note content

  • Required: Search query
  • Optional: fastSearch (Full-text search switch), includeArchivedNotes

• get_note - Get note content by ID

  • Required: Note ID

• create_note - Create a new note

  • Required: Parent note ID, title, type, content
  • Optional: MIME type (for code/file/image notes)
  • Supported note types: text, code, file, image, search, book, relationMap, render

• update_note - Update an existing note

  • Required: Note ID
  • Optional: New title, new content

• delete_note - Delete a note

  • Required: Note ID

If you want to contribute to or modify the server:

# Clone the repository

# Install dependencies
npm install

# Build the server
npm run build

# Automatically rebuild during development
npm run watch

Note: Please adjust according to the configuration file location of Claude Desktop.
