🚀 Emacs MCP Server

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) server is designed for Emacs. It can generate and execute Elisp code within a running Emacs process.

✨ Features

The server exposes two tools:

• generate_emacs_lisp_code: Generate Elisp code for a given task.
• execute_emacs_lisp_code: Pass Elisp code to a running Emacs instance via emacsclient for evaluation and execution.

📦 Installation

This project is managed using uv. First, run uv sync to install all dependencies. Then, execute source .venv/bin/activate to activate the generated virtual environment.

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

To run the MCP server in the inspector:

mcp dev emacs_mcp_server.py

To install the MCP server for use with Claude Desktop:

mcp install emacs_mcp_server.py

However, you must edit the generated JSON configuration file claude_desktop_config.json to include the API key and the full path to emacsclient. It should look something like this:
