📦 Installation

Prerequisites

🎹 Using the MIDI Parser MCP Tool with Absolute Paths

All operations in the MIDI parser MCP tool require the absolute path of the MIDI file. This ensures that the tool can correctly locate and operate on your MIDI files regardless of the current working directory.

Example Prompts

Here are some example prompts you can use with the AI assistant:

1. Get MIDI file information:

Can you tell me the information of the MIDI file located at D:\path\to\your\file.mid?

2. Analyze tracks:

Please analyze all tracks in D:\path\to\your\file.mid and tell me how many notes are in each track.

3. Set the tempo:

Set the tempo of D:\path\to\your\file.mid to 120 BPM.

4. Add a new note:

In D:\path\to\your\file.mid, add a MIDI note to the first track with a channel number of 1 and a velocity of 127. This note should start playing at the beginning of the 3rd bar and last until the 4th bar.

Parameters

Here are the parameter descriptions for each operation:

Get MIDI file information

• Command: getMIDIFileInfo
• Parameters:
  • filePath (required): The path of the MIDI file to get information about.

Get track information

• Command: getTrackInfo
• Parameters:
  • filePath (required): The path of the MIDI file to get track information from.
  • trackIndex (optional): The index of the specific track to get (starting from 0).

Set the tempo

• Command: setTempo
• Parameters:
  • filePath (required): The path of the MIDI file to set the tempo for.
  • tempoBPM (required): The new BPM value in beats per minute.

Add a new note

• Command: addNote
• Parameters:
  • filePath (required): The path of the MIDI file to add the note to.
  • channel (required): The channel number the note belongs to (starting from 1).
  • noteNumber (required): The MIDI note number, e.g., 60 represents C4.
  • velocity (optional, default is 127): The velocity value of the note, ranging from 0 to 127.
  • startTime (optional, default is the current time): The time when the note starts playing (in MIDI time units).

Get all notes

• Command: getNotes
• Parameters:
  • filePath (required): The path of the MIDI file to get notes from.
  • channel (optional): The channel number to filter by (starting from 1). If not specified, notes from all channels are returned.

Remove a track

• Command: removeTrack
• Parameters:
  • filePath (required): The path of the MIDI file to remove the track from.
  • trackIndex (required): The index of the specific track to remove (starting from 0).

Add a new track

• Command: addTrack
• Parameters:
  • filePath (required): The path of the MIDI file to add the track to.
