Neodb MCP

🚀 New NeoDB MCP Server

A Message Control Protocol (MCP) server implementation that interacts with NeoDB, a social book catalog service. This server provides tools to retrieve user information, search for books, and fetch detailed book information via NeoDB's API.

📦 Installation

Install UV

First, install the UV package manager:

curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh

Create a Virtual Environment

Create and activate a Python virtual environment using UV:

uv venv
source .venv/bin/activate  # On Unix/macOS
# Or
.venv\Scripts\activate     # On Windows

Install Dependencies

Install the project dependencies using UV:

uv pip install .

💻 Usage Examples

Available Tools

This server provides the following tools:

1. Get User Information

   • Retrieve the most basic information of the current user.
   • No parameters required.

2. Search for Books

   • Search for items in the catalog.
   • Parameters:
     • query (string): The query string for the search.

3. Get Book Details

   • Retrieve detailed information about a specific book.
   • Parameters:
     • book_id (string): The ID of the book to retrieve.

Use with Claude Desktop

Obtain an Access Token

There are two ways to obtain your access token:

1. Follow the official guide: Get your access token according to the official documentation.
2. Use an automated script: You can use the neodb-get-access-token script to simplify the process of obtaining an access token.

Where:

• <API_BASE>: The base URL of the NeoDB API.
