🚀 MCP Integration with TabNews

Integrate the Model Context Protocol (MCP) with TabNews, enabling seamless interaction and data retrieval.

This MCP server can also be directly used on Smithery without additional configuration.

📦 Installation

Manual Installation

1. Ensure you are using Node.js version v23 or higher:

node -v
#v23.11.0

2. Clone this repository:

git clone https://github.com/renant/mcp-tabnews.git
cd mcp-tabnews

3. Restore dependencies:

npm ci

• checkStatusTool: Check the status of the TabNews API.
• getContentsTool: Retrieve content from TabNews.
• getContentsByUserTool: Retrieve content from TabNews by user.
• getContentTool: Retrieve content with the body from TabNews by user and article slug.
• getContentChildrenTool: Retrieve comments on an article in TabNews.
• getAnalyticsUserCreatedTool: Retrieve analytics data for content created by a user.
• getAnalyticsRootContentPublishedTool: Retrieve analytics data for published root content.
• getAnalyticsChildContentPublishedTool: Retrieve analytics data for published child content.
• getRssFeedTool: Retrieve the RSS feed of TabNews.

Integration with AI Tools

Check MCP Server Functionality

You can use Smithery to check the functionality of this MCP server:

npx -y @smithery/cli@latest inspect @renant/mcp-tabnews

This will display all available tools, their parameters, and how to use them.

Cursor Setup

1. Open Cursor settings.
2. Navigate to the MCP section.
3. Click "Add new MCP server".
4. Configure the server:

Name = mcp-tabnews
Type = Command
Command = node ABSOLUTE_PATH_TO_PROJECT/src/index.ts

Or execute from Smithery:

5. Ensure that Cursor chat is in "Proxy" mode, select "Proxy" in the dropdown menu at the bottom left.
6. Go to the chat and ask any questions about TabNews.

To automatically install TabNews for Claude Desktop via Smithery:
