🚀 Bright Data MCP

The official server for Bright Data's Model Context Protocol (MCP), which can reference public network data. This server allows MCP clients such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, OpenAI agents, and other tools to make decisions based on information on web pages.

🚀 Quick Start

✨ Account Setup

1. Ensure you have an account on brightdata.com. New users can get free test credits, and there are pay-as-you-go options.
2. Obtain your API key from the user settings page.
3. Create a Web Unlocker proxy zone named mcp_unlocker in the control panel.
   • You can override this zone via the environment variable WEB_UNLOCKER_ZONE.
4. (Optional) To enable browser control tools:
   • Visit your Bright Data control panel at brightdata.com/cp/zones.
   • Create a new 'scraping browser' zone.
   • Once created, copy the authentication string from the Scraping Browser overview tab.
   • The authentication string is in the format: brd-customer-[your-customer-ID]-zone-[your-zone-ID]:[your-password].

🚀 Quick Start with Claude Desktop

1. Install nodejs to get the npx command (used to run Node.js modules). Installation instructions can be found on the node.js website.
2. Go to Claude > Settings > Developer > Edit Configuration > claude_desktop_config.json and add the following content:

🔌 Other MCP Clients

To use this MCP server with other proxy types, you need to adjust the following according to the specific software:

• The full command to run the MCP server is npx @brightdata/mcp.
• When running the server, the environment variable API_TOKEN=<your-token> must exist.

🔧 Troubleshooting

To ensure optimal performance, set the timeout to a high value.
