🚀 AEMET-MCP. Integrating AEMET API via MCP Protocol

Aemet-mcp enables you to query historical climate data and meteorological information from the AEMET API directly through Claude AI and other clients supporting the MCP protocol, using the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Aemet-mcp is an MCP server that provides tools for LLMs to query data from meteorological stations across Spain. It includes secure handling of API keys and JSON files to support the data.

📦 Installation

Installation via Smithery

To automatically install the AEMET weather data server via Smithery:

npx -y @smithery/cli install @AnCode666/aemet-mcp --client claude

Installation from uv

Prerequisites

• Python 3.10 or higher.
• uv package manager.

Install uv

The first step is to install uv, a Python package manager. It can be installed via the command line.

On macOS and Linux:

curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh

On Windows:

powershell -ExecutionPolicy ByPass -c "irm https://astral.sh/uv/install.ps1 | iex"

You can also install it via pip:

pip install uv

Integration with Clients like Claude Desktop

Once uv is installed, you can use the AEMET-MCP server from any client supporting the MCP protocol (e.g., Claude Desktop). The steps are as follows:

1. Open Claude > Settings > Developer > Edit Configuration > claude_desktop_config.json
2. Add the following block to "mcpServers":

3. Obtain an API key for free from the AEMET website: https://opendata.aemet.es/centrodedescargas/altaUsuario
