🚀 Claude Desktop Commander MCP: Application Server for Claude Desktop

This is a server that allows the Claude desktop application to execute long - running terminal commands on your computer and manage processes via the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

In short, it has two key features: terminal commands and diff - based file editing.

This server is built on top of the MCP File System Server to provide additional search - and - replace file editing capabilities.

📦 Installation

Method 1: Install via Smithery CLI

1. Open your terminal.
2. Run the following command:

smith install @wonderwhy-er/desktop-commander

Method 2: Manual Installation

1. Clone this repository:

git clone https://github.com/wonderwhy-er/ClaudeDesktopCommander.git
cd ClaudeDesktopCommander

2. Install dependencies:

npm install

3. Start the server:

npm start

Method 3: Install via npx

Run the following command directly:

npx -y @wonderwhy-er/desktop-commander setup

Manual Configuration

1. Create or edit the claude_desktop_config.json file.
2. Add the following content:
