This MCP enables AI agents to send notifications through Pushover.net. It adheres to the MCP specification, allowing seamless integration with compatible AI systems.

Configuration

You need to:

1. Obtain an application token from Pushover.net.
2. Get your user key.

These details can be found on your Pushover.net dashboard.

Tool Mode

The MCP offers a tool:

send

Sends a notification via Pushover.

📦 Installation

Using Cursor IDE

Method 1: Global Installation

Run the MCP server using npx:

npx -y pushover-mcp@latest start --token your_token --user your_user_key

In your Cursor IDE:

1. Go to Cursor Settings > MCP.
2. Click + Add New MCP Server.
3. Fill out the form:
   • Name: Pushover Notifications (or any name you prefer).
   • Type: command.
   • Command: npx -y pushover-mcp@latest start --token your_token --user your_user_key.

Method 2: Project-Specific Configuration

Add a .cursor/mcp.json file to your project:

Using the Tool

After configuration, the Pushover notification tool will be automatically available in the Cursor AI agent. You can use it as follows:

1. The tool will be listed under Available Tools.
2. The agent will automatically use it in relevant situations.
3. You can explicitly request the agent to send a notification.

By default, the agent will ask for approval before sending a notification. Enable "Yolo Mode" to allow automatic sending.

Using Roo Code

This tool can also be used via Roo Code, offering similar integration and configuration options.
