🚀 MCP Expert Server

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that leverages Claude AI to provide intelligent query generation and document assistance. This server analyzes your API documentation and offers two main tools:

• create-query: Generate queries based on natural language requests.
• documentation: Provide relevant documentation information based on questions.

🚀 Quick Start

Prerequisites

• Node.js >= 18
• Anthropic API key for Claude

Installation

1. Clone the repository.
2. Install dependencies:

npm install

3. Create a .env file and add your Anthropic API key:

ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=your_api_key_here

Setup

Before running the server, follow these steps:

1. Build the project and run the setup script:

npm run build
npm run setup

This command will perform the following actions:

• Create the required directories (docs/ and prompts/).
• Create default prompt files.
• Generate the initial service description.

2. Add your API documentation files to the docs/ directory (supports .txt, .md, and .json formats).

3. Optionally, customize the prompt content in the prompts/ directory:

   • system-prompt.txt: The main system prompt for Claude.
   • tool-metadata.txt: Additional context for tool descriptions.
   • query-metadata.txt: Additional context for query generation.
   • service-description.txt: The automatically generated service description.

💻 Usage Examples

Standalone Server

Start the server:

npm start

The server provides two tools through the Model Context Protocol (MCP):

Basic Usage

• create-query: Generate queries based on natural language requests.

Claude Desktop Integration

1. Add the following configuration to your Claude Desktop configuration file:

2. Replace /ABSOLUTE/PATH/TO/expert-server with the actual installation path of your server.

Development

• Start the development server using the command npm run dev.
• All code is located in the src/ directory and follows a modular structure.

Troubleshooting

1. Ensure that Node.js version >= 18.
2. Check if the API key in the .env file is set correctly.
3. Install all dependencies before running the script: npm install

Environment Variables

• ANTHROPIC_API_KEY: The access key for the Anthropic API.
