🚀 Jira Context Model Protocol (MCP)

The Jira Context Model Protocol (MCP) is a tool that helps developers integrate with Jira more efficiently. With this project, you can directly access and manipulate Jira tasks in your code editor without switching between multiple windows.

🚀 Quick Start

After starting the service, you can use the following commands in your code editor:

• Get all tasks:

  /list_issues
  

• Filter tasks by type:

  /get_issues_by_type issueType:Defect
  

• Get details of a single task:

  /get_issue issueKey:ProjectNumber

📦 Installation

Environment Requirements

• Node.js version 14.0 or higher.
• npm version 5.0 or higher.

Installation Steps

1. Clone the repository:

   git clone https://github.com/rahulthedevil/jira-mcp.git
   cd jira-mcp
   

2. Install dependencies:

   npm install
   

3. Start the service:

   npm start
   

4. Or use the command-line tool:

   npm run cli
   

Configuration

Create a .env file in the project root directory and add the following content:

JIRA_API_TOKEN=YourJiraToken
JIRA_ACCOUNT_EMAIL=YourJiraAccountEmail

Adding New Features

1. Register a new tool in server.ts:

   import { Tool } from '@rahulthedevil/mcp-core'

       param1: { type: 'string', required: true, description: 'Parameter 1' },
     },
   })
   
   registerTools([newTool])
