📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Python 3.8 or higher.

Method 1: Install the latest stable version using pip

pip install aider-mcp

Method 2: Install from source

Configuration Examples

Setting Variables in the Environment

• Set REPO_PATH to specify the repository path:

  export REPO_PATH=/path/to/repo
  

• Set AIDER_MCP_VERBOSE to enable debug logging:

  export AIDER_MCP_VERBOSE=true
  

Setting in the Configuration File

Create or edit the ~/.config/aider-mcp/config.json file and add the following content:

Available Tools

1. File Management

   • file-manager/list-files: List all files in a specified directory.
   • file-manager/read-file: Read the content of a specific file.
   • file-manager/write-file: Write content to a specified file.

2. Version Control

   • git-status: Get the status information of a git repository, including untracked, modified, and deleted files.
   • git-commit: Commit specified changes.
   • git-push: Push code to a remote repository.

3. Code Operations

   • code-analyzer/highlight-code: Syntax-highlight a code snippet.
   • code-generator/generate-function: Generate function code based on a description.
   • code-formatter/format-file: Format the code of a specified file.

Environment Variables

Basic Settings

• REPO_PATH: Specify the default repository path, defaulting to the current directory.
• AIDER_MCP_VERBOSE: Enable detailed log output, with optional values of true or false.

Advanced Configuration

• EDITOR: Set the default editor, such as vim or VSCode.
• BRANCH_NAME: Specify the default branch name, usually main or master.
• COMMIT_MESSAGE: Default commit message template, supporting variable substitution.

Starting the Monitor with a Specified Repository Path
