A TypeScript-based MCP server that implements a simple note-taking system. This implementation demonstrates core MCP concepts, including:

• Resources: Access and manage notes with titles, content, and metadata using note:// URIs.
• Tools: Create new notes.
• Prompts: Generate summaries of all stored notes.

• Each note contains a title, content, and metadata.
• Use the simple plain text MIME type for content access.

Tools

• create_note: Create a new text note.
  • The title and content parameters must be provided.
  • Store the note in the server state.

Prompts

• summarize_notes: Generate a summary of all stored notes.
  • Include all note content as embedded resources.
  • Return a structured prompt for LLMs to generate summaries.

📦 Installation

Development

Install dependencies:

npm install

Build the server:

npm run build

Development with automatic rebuild:

npm run watch

Integration with Claude Desktop

To use it with Claude Desktop, add the server configuration:

On MacOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json On Windows: %APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

Debugging

Since MCP servers communicate via stdio, debugging can be challenging. We recommend using MCP Inspector, which can be provided via a script command:

npm run inspector

The Inspector will provide a URL in the browser to access the debugging tools.
