What is SuperGateway?
SuperGateway is a bridging tool that can convert traditional command-line programs (communicating via standard input/output) into modern web services, enabling remote clients to access these programs through the SSE (Server-Sent Events) protocol. How to use SuperGateway?
You only need to provide the MCP server command to run, and SuperGateway will create a web service endpoint. Clients can subscribe to the service output via the SSE protocol and send input through the HTTP interface.Use cases
Suitable for scenarios where traditional command-line AI model services need to be exposed as web services, especially AI model services that require real-time streaming output.Main features
Protocol conversion
Convert the standard input/output (stdio) protocol to the Server-Sent Events (SSE) protocol
Multi-client support
Support multiple clients connecting to the same backend service simultaneously
Automatic JSON recognition
Automatically recognize and forward JSON-formatted output to simplify client processing
CORS support
Configurable Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) support for easy front-end integration
Health check
Provide a configurable health check endpoint for easy monitoring of the service status
Advantages
Add a web interface without modifying the existing MCP server code
Support real-time streaming output, suitable for AI model services
Lightweight Java implementation, easy to deploy
Provide session isolation and support multiple clients
Limitations
Only support JSON-formatted message exchange
Require the MCP server to support standard input/output communication
A Java runtime environment is required
How to use
Build the project
Build the project using Maven to generate an executable JAR file
Start SuperGateway
Run SuperGateway and specify the MCP server command to wrap
Connect the client
The client connects to the endpoint exposed by SuperGateway via the SSE protocol
Send a message
The client sends a message to the MCP server through the HTTP interface
Usage examples
Expose a local AI model service
Expose a locally running AI command-line model service as a web service
Multi-client chat application
Multiple web clients connect to the same chatbot backend simultaneously
