This MCP server offers a variety of file system operations. You can install and run it following the steps below.

This MCP server provides the following file system operations:

1. read_file: Read the entire content of a file

   • Input: path (string)
   • Read the full file content using UTF - 8 encoding

2. read_multiple_files: Read multiple files simultaneously

   • Input: paths (array of strings)
   • A failed read does not prevent the entire operation from continuing

3. write_file: Create a new file or overwrite an existing one

   • Input:
     • path (string): File location
     • content (string): File content

4. create_directory: Create a new directory or ensure a directory exists

   • Input: path (string)
   • Create parent directories if necessary
   • Silently succeed if the directory already exists

5. list_directory: List directory contents with [FILE] or [DIR] prefixes

   • Input: path (string)

6. move_file: Move or rename files and directories

   • Input:
     • source (string)
     • destination (string)
   • The operation fails if the destination already exists

7. search_files: Recursively search for files/directories

   • Input:
     • path (string): Starting directory
     • pattern (string): Search pattern
   • Case - insensitive matching
   • Return matching items with full paths

8. get_file_info: Get detailed metadata of a file/directory

   • Input: path (string)
   • Return:
     • Size
     • Creation time
     • Modification time
     • Access time
     • Type (file/directory)
     • Permissions

9. list_allowed_directories: List all directories the server is allowed to access

   • No input required
   • Return directories that the server can read from and write to

🔧 Technical Details

The server only allows operations within directories specified through command - line arguments, which enhances security.

📦 Installation

1. Clone this repository.
2. Install dependencies: npm install
3. Build the project: npm run build

Run the server using the following command:
