Tool Endpoints

• linear_create_issue

  • Create a new Linear issue, supporting title, description, team ID, priority, and status.

• linear_search_issues

  • Search for Linear issues based on query conditions, team, status, assignee, priority, and limit.

• linear_sprint_issues

  • Retrieve all issues in the current sprint or iteration of a specified team.

• linear_search_teams

  • Search for and retrieve Linear teams, filtering by name.

• linear_filter_sprint_issues

  • Filter issues in the current sprint or iteration of a specified team by status.

• linear_get_workflow_states

  • Get all available workflow states (i.e., issue statuses) for a specified team.

• linear_list_projects

  • Get a list of all projects and their IDs, with the option to filter by team.

📦 Installation

Developer Setup

Environment Configuration

1. Download and install Node.js and npm.
2. Create a config folder and add an env file inside it:

   LINEAR_API_KEY=your_linear_api_key
   

3. Create a package.json file in the project root directory with the following content:

Dependency Installation

Run the following command in the project root directory to install the required dependencies:

npm install

Start the Server

Start the MCP server using the following command:

npm start

Docker Setup

Image Building

Create a Dockerfile with the following content:

COPY config/ ./

RUN npm install

CMD ["node", "dist/server.js"]

Compose File

Create a docker-compose.yml file with the following content:

Start the Service

Run the following command to start the Docker service:

docker-compose up --build

Usage in Cursor

Without Docker Configuration

1. Open the Cursor settings menu.
2. Navigate to the "MCP Server" section.
3. Click "Add MCP Server".
4. Fill in the following information:
   • Name: linear-mcp-server
   • Transport Type: Command Line
   • Command: env LINEAR_API_KEY=your_linear_api_key node /path/to/your/mcp-linear-server/dist/server.js
5. Save the settings.

With Docker Configuration

1. Open the Cursor settings menu.
2. Navigate to the "MCP Server" section.
3. Click "Add MCP Server".
4. Fill in the following information:
   • Name: linear-mcp-server
   • Transport Type: Command Line
   • Command: docker exec -i mcp-linear-server node dist/server.js
5. Save the settings.
