🚀 MCP Connector

MCP Connect is a tool designed to connect cloud services with local MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers. It enables the exposure of local MCP servers to the internet and allows cloud services to leverage local service capabilities via API calls. The tool offers the following features:

• Cloud Integration: Enables cloud services to access local MCP servers via the HTTP protocol.
• Protocol Conversion: Transforms HTTP requests into standard input-output (stdio) commands.
• Security: Provides a token-based authentication mechanism to ensure the security of API calls.
• Scalability: Supports multiple MCP services and allows easy addition of new services through configuration.

🚀 Quick Start

Clone the Repository

Use the following command to clone the MCP Connect repository:

git clone https://github.com/your-repository-url.git
cd mcp-connect

Configure Environment Variables

Create and edit the config.env file, adding the following content (modify according to your actual needs):

AUTH_TOKEN=your_auth_token_here
PORT=3000
LOG_LEVEL=info
NGROK_AUTH_TOKEN=your_ngrok_auth_token_here

Install Dependencies

Run the following command in the project root directory to install the required dependencies:

npm install

Run the Application

Use the following command to start the MCP Connect service:

node index.js

💡 Using Ngrok to Set Up a Tunnel (Optional)

If you need to expose your local service to the internet, you can use Ngrok to create a tunnel. First, install Ngrok:

# Download and install Ngrok
go install -v github.com/caddyserver/forwarding/v2/cmd/ngrok@latest

Then, create an ngrok.yml file in the project directory and add the following content:

tunnels:
  mcp-connector:
    addr: http://localhost:3000
    proto: http

Run Ngrok:

ngrok run --config=ngrok.yml

📚 API Endpoints

MCP Connect provides the following two main endpoints:

/health - Health Check

• Request Method: GET
• Description: Used to check if the MCP Connect service is running properly.

/bridge - Main Bridging Endpoint

• Request Method: POST
• Description: Receives requests from cloud services and forwards them to the local MCP server.

🔒 Authentication Mechanism

MCP Connect uses a token-based authentication system. Add the Authorization field to the request header in the following format:
