MCP Asana

🚀 MCP Asana Integration Server

This is a server based on the Model Context Protocol (MCP) that provides tools for managing Asana tasks and projects. The server exposes methods for creating, updating, listing, and deleting Asana tasks and projects.

✨ Features

• Task Management

  • Create new Asana tasks with a name, description, due date, assignee, and parent project.
  • List tasks within a specific project.
  • Update existing Asana tasks (name, description, due date, assignee, completion status).
  • Delete Asana tasks.

• Project Management

  • Create new Asana projects with a name, description, color, and visibility settings.
  • List all projects within a workspace.
  • Delete Asana projects.

📦 Prerequisites

• Node.js version 14 or higher.
• Install Asana developer credentials:

  cp .env.example .env && edit .env
  

📦 Installation

git clone [repository URL]
cd mcp-asana
npm install

📚 Configuration

Copy the .env.example file and modify it as follows:

ASANA_ACCESS_TOKEN=your_asana_access_token
ASANA_PROJECT_ID=your_asana_project_id
ASANA_WORKSPACE_ID=your_asana_workspace_id

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

1. Run the server

   npm run build && npm start
   

2. Development mode

   npm run dev
   

3. Simple client

   ./simple-client.sh [command]
   

   • ./simple-client.sh create-task: Create a task.
   • ./simple-client.sh list-tasks: List all tasks.
   • ./simple-client.sh update-task: Update a task.
   • ./simple-client.sh delete-task: Delete a task.

🔧 Technical Details

Known Limitations

• Currently, HTTP/SSE transport is not supported.
• Error handling for API responses is limited.
• Pagination functionality for listing tasks or projects is missing.
