📦 Installation

1. Create or obtain your team's Linear API key: https://linear.app/YOUR-TEAM/settings/api

2. Add the server configuration to Claude desktop:

1. linear_create_issue: Create a new Linear issue

   • Required inputs:
     • title (string): Issue title
     • teamId (string): ID of the team where the issue will be created
   • Optional inputs:
     • description (string): Issue description (supports Markdown)
     • priority (number, 0 - 4): Priority level (1 = urgent, 4 = low)
     • status (string): Initial status name

2. linear_update_issue: Update an existing issue

   • Required input:
     • id (string): ID of the issue to be updated
   • Optional inputs:
     • title (string): New title
     • description (string): New description
     • priority (number): New priority
     • status (string): New status name

3. linear_query_issues: Query issues

   • Optional inputs:
     • projectId (string): ID of the project to query (optional)
     • userId (string): ID of the user to query (optional)
   • Output:
     • Array: List of queried issues

4. linear_create_comment: Create a comment

   • Required inputs:
     • issueId (string): ID of the issue to which the comment will be added
     • content (string): Comment content
   • Output:
     • Object: Represents the newly created comment

5. linear_update_comment: Update a comment

   • Required inputs:
     • commentId (string): ID of the comment to be updated
     • content (string): New comment content
   • Output:
     • Object: Represents the updated comment

Development

To develop this MCP server, you can follow these steps:

npm install

   • Set the LINEAR_API_KEY environment variable to your Linear API key.

3. Run the server:

   • Run once:

     npm start
     

   • Watch for file changes (development mode):

     npm run watch
