Prompts

The server offers a prompt:

• duckdb-motherduck-initial-prompt: A prompt used to initialize the connection to DuckDB or MotherDuck and start operations.

Tools

The server provides three tools:

• initialize-connection: Creates a connection to local DuckDB or MotherDuck and retrieves available databases.
  • Accepts "type" (either DuckDB or MotherDuck) as an input parameter.
• read-schemas: Fetches table structure information from a specific DuckDB/MotherDuck database.
  • Requires "database_name" as a mandatory string parameter.
• execute-query: Executes a query on the MotherDuck (or DuckDB) database.
  • Requires "query" as a mandatory string parameter.

💻 Usage Examples

Using with Claude Desktop

Add the following code snippet to your Claude Desktop configuration. Ensure that you set the HOME environment variable to your home directory (required by DuckDB). When using MotherDuck, you also need to set a MotherDuck access token as an environment variable.
