This project implements an MCP server that allows Claude to connect to Zoom, retrieve data, and perform operations via the Zoom API. It serves as a bridge between Claude and Zoom, enabling seamless integration and access to Zoom meetings, users, and recordings.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Python 3.11 or higher.
• A Zoom account with administrative privileges.
• A Zoom Server-to-Server OAuth application with appropriate scopes.
• uv for Python package management.

Setup

1. Clone the repository:

   git clone https://github.com/yourusername/zoom-mcp.git
   cd zoom-mcp
   

2. Create a virtual environment and activate it using uv:

   uv venv
   source .venv/bin/activate  # For Windows users: .venv\Scripts\activate
   

3. Install dependencies using uv:

   uv pip install -e .
   

4. Set up Zoom API credentials:

   python scripts/setup_zoom_auth.py
   

   This script will guide you through setting up Zoom API credentials in the .env file:

   ZOOM_API_KEY=your-client-id
   ZOOM_API_SECRET=your-client-secret
   ZOOM_ACCOUNT_ID=your-account-id
   

💻 Usage Examples

Testing the Connection

After setting up the credentials, you can test the connection to the Zoom API:

python scripts/test_zoom_connection.py

This script will verify:

• Whether the environment variables are correctly set.
• Whether OAuth token generation is working properly.
• Whether basic API access is successful.

API Endpoints

The MCP server provides access to various Zoom API endpoints:

• /users/me - Get detailed information about the authenticated user.
• Implement other endpoints as needed.

🔧 Technical Details

Authentication

This project uses Zoom's Server-to-Server OAuth 2.0 authentication. The authentication module handles:

• OAuth 2.0 token generation.
• Token caching and refreshing.
• Environment variable configuration.

The authentication process:

1. Base64-encode the API key and secret for basic authentication.
2. Request an access token from Zoom's OAuth endpoint.
3. Use the token for subsequent API requests.
4. Automatically refresh the token when it expires.

Development

Creating a Zoom Application

1. Visit the Zoom App Marketplace and log in.
2. Click "Develop" in the top right corner and select "Build" from the menu.
3. In the application details section, enter the application name, description, and consent URL.
4. Go to "Advanced Settings", enable OAuth 2.0 authentication, and set the callback URL for user authorization.
5. Save the changes and obtain the client ID and secret for API connection.

Access Permissions

After creating the application, you need to grant the necessary permissions to interact with the Zoom API. The following are common permissions:

• zoom_basic - Basic access (read meetings, user information, etc.).
• zoom_video - Video conference control.
• zoom_audit_logs - Audit log access.
• Select other permissions according to API requirements.

Configuration Example

Create a .env file in the root directory of your project and add the following content to configure the Zoom API:

ZOOM_CLIENT_ID=your-client-id
ZOOM_CLIENT_SECRET=your-client-secret
ZOOM_API_KEY=your-api-key
ZOOM_API_SECRET=your-api-secret

🛠️ Troubleshooting

Unable to Connect to the Zoom API

• Check if the API key and secret are correctly configured.
• Ensure that the application permissions are enabled.
• Refer to the Zoom documentation to confirm the correctness of API endpoints and parameters.

Authentication Failure

• Verify the validity of the OAuth token.
• Ensure that the callback URL is correctly set in the Zoom application.
• Check if the Authorization field in the request header is correctly formatted.
