🚀 Jotdown - MCP Server for Notion Page Creation and mdBook Generator

Jotdown is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that enables Large Language Models (LLMs) to integrate with Notion and generate Markdown Books. It offers two primary tools for LLMs:

• 👉 Notion Integration: Create or update pages in Notion using content generated by LLMs.
• 👉 Mdbook Generation: Generate Markdown Books from content and manage their structure.

Jotdown allows LLMs to seamlessly integrate with these systems, facilitating various content management and publishing workflows.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Rust: Ensure Rust is installed. You can install it from rust-lang.org.
• Notion API Token: A Notion API token (Internal Integration Secret) is required to integrate with Notion.
• Claude Desktop: Ensure Claude Desktop or other MCP clients (such as Cline, Continue, etc.) are installed and configured with the Notion integration token.

Installation Steps

1. Clone the repository:

   git clone https://github.com/Harry-027/JotDown
   cd jotdown
   

2. Install dependencies:

   cargo build --release
   

3. Install the mdbook CLI (required for mdbook generation):

   cargo install mdbook
   

4. Notion setup:

   • Configure the Notion connection (internal integration, access your Notion workspace) and copy the Internal Integration Secret for later use.
   • Create a page titled Jot It Down in your workspace and share it with the integration. This is necessary for the integration to work properly.

5. Configure the Claude Desktop (or other MCP client) configuration file (for Notion integration):

6. Start the service:

   cargo run --release --bin server

Basic Usage

• Create a new page:

• Update an existing page:

• Generate a Markdown book:

  jotdown generate-book "Book Title" "Chapter 1 Title Chapter 2 Title ..."

Tools Provided by Jotdown

1. Notion Page Tool

LLMs can use the Notion tool to create or update pages in Notion, allowing them to store structured content such as articles or other types of documents.

Examples:

• Create a new Notion page using content generated by an LLM.

2. mdbook Tool

Through the mdbook tool, LLMs can automatically generate Markdown books from content, handle chapter creation, structure management, and add a SUMMARY.md file for navigation.

Examples:

• Generate a new book based on content generated by an LLM.
• Automatically generate chapters with correct links in SUMMARY.md.
