📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Node.js v18 or higher.
• A WordPress website with the REST API enabled.
• A WordPress application password for authentication.

Steps

1. Clone this repository:

git clone https://github.com/stefans71/wordpress-mcp-server.git
cd wordpress-server

2. Install dependencies:

npm install

3. Build the server:

npm run build

WordPress Configuration

Before using the server, configure your WordPress site:

1. Ensure that the REST API is enabled on your WordPress site (enabled by default in WordPress 4.7+).
2. Create an application password:
   • Log in to the WordPress admin panel.
   • Navigate to Users → Profile.
   • Scroll to the bottom to "Application Passwords".
   • Enter the name of the application (e.g., "MCP Server").
   • Click "Add New Application Password".
   • Copy the generated password (it won't be shown again).

1. create_post

Create a new WordPress post.

Parameters:

• siteUrl (required): The URL of your WordPress website.
• username (required): Your WordPress username.
• password (required): Your WordPress application password.
• title (required): The title of the post.
• content (required): The content of the post.
• status (optional): The status of the post, such as "draft" or "publish".
