🚀 MCP Bedrock Sample Code Project

This sample code project is forked from the [https://github.com/aws-samples/Sample-Model-Context-Protocol-Demos] repository.

• Added a sample for PostgreSQL database connection.
• Added a sample for web search (Wikipedia).

✅ Prerequisites

• Python 3.13+
• PostgreSQL (via Docker)

Start PostgreSQL with Docker Compose

docker-compose -f docker-compose/docker-compose.yml up -d

Initialize the Database

• SQL initialization script: /init/init.sql
  (Includes DDL and DML)

🚀 Quick Start

1. Set up a virtual environment (recommended):

python -m venv venv
source venv/bin/activate  # On Windows: venv\Scripts\activate

2. Install dependencies:

pip install -r init/requirements.txt

3. Run the application:

python3 main.py

🐘 PostgreSQL Driver Issue (psycopg)

If you encounter the following error message:

ImportError: No pq wrapper available.
Tried the following:
- Could not import psycopg 'c' implementation: No module named 'psycopg_c'
- Could not import psycopg 'binary' implementation: No module named 'psycopg_binary'
- Could not import psycopg 'python' implementation: libpq library not found

Please install the PostgreSQL client library. Alternatively, you can change the PostgreSQL module you are using.

macOS:

brew install libpq
brew link --force libpq

Ubuntu:

sudo apt-get install libpq-dev
