DynamoDB MCP (Management Console Plane) Server is a command - line tool for interacting with AWS DynamoDB. It enables you to create, delete, and update tables, as well as perform data operations like reading, writing, querying, and scanning. With this tool, you can conveniently manage and operate DynamoDB databases.

Basic Commands

Create a Table

Create a simple DynamoDB table:

create_table \
  --table-name Users \
  --key-schema KeySchema=[{KeyType=HASH, AttributeName=userId}, {KeyType=RANGE, AttributeName=timestamp}] \
  --provisioned-throughput ReadCapacityUnits=5, WriteCapacityUnits=5

Create a table with a global secondary index:

create_table \
  --table-name Users \
  --key-schema KeySchema=[{KeyType=HASH, AttributeName=userId}, {KeyType=RANGE, AttributeName=timestamp}] \
  --provisioned-throughput ReadCapacityUnits=5, WriteCapacityUnits=5 \

Delete a Table

Delete a table with the specified name:

delete_table --table-name Users

Update Table Capacity

Update the read and write capacity of a table:

update_table \
  --table-name Users \
  --provisioned-throughput ReadCapacityUnits=10, WriteCapacityUnits=8

Insert Data

Insert a record into the table:

put_item \
  --table-name Users \
  --item {userId: S=123, timestamp: N=1679000000, name: S=John Doe, email: S=john@example.com}

Query Data

Query a record by the primary key:

get_item \
  --table-name Users \
  --key {userId=S(123), timestamp=N(1679000000)}

Update Data

Update partial attributes of a specified item:

update_item \
  --table-name Users \
  --key {userId=S(123)} \
  --update-expression "SET #n = :name" \
  --expression-attribute-names "#n": name \

Scan a Table

Scan the entire table and return all records:

scan_table --table-name Users
