MCP Pdf Reader

🚀 MCP-Enabled PDF Reader

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) for server models offers a tool named read_pdf for reading individual PDF documents. This feature has been tested on Claude Desktop and LibreChat and verified using Ollama. Although there's no upper limit on the PDF file size, the number of tokens passed to the model will be a limiting factor.

🚀 Quick Start

Prerequisites

Windows

1. Install Claude Desktop (or other MCP-enabled AI tools):
   • Download Claude for Desktop.
   • Follow the current installation instructions: Installing Claude for Desktop on Windows.
2. Install Python 3.10 or higher:
   • Download the latest Python installer from python.org.
   • Run the installer and check "Add Python to PATH".
   • Verify the installation in the command prompt: python --version.
3. Install uv:
   • Open the command prompt as an administrator.
   • Run pip install --user uv.
   • Verify the installation: uv --version.

macOS

1. Install Claude Desktop (or other MCP-enabled AI tools):
   • Download Claude for Desktop.
   • Follow the current installation instructions: Installing Claude for Desktop on macOS.
2. Install Python 3.10 or higher:
   • Use Homebrew: brew install python.
   • Verify the installation: python3 --version.
3. Install uv:
   • Use Homebrew: brew install uv.
   • Or: pip3 install --user uv.
   • Verify the installation: uv --version.
