🚀 Google Search Console MCP Server

An MCP server that provides the Google Search Console API, which can be used in the MCP client node of the n8n workflow.

This server offers a range of functionalities related to Google Search Console, enabling users to interact with search console data efficiently.

📦 Installation

1. Ensure Python 3.7+ is installed on the server.

2. Clone the repository:

   git clone https://github.com/yourusername/google-search-console-mcp.git
   cd google-search-console-mcp
   

3. Create a virtual environment and install dependencies:

   python3 -m venv .venv
   source .venv/bin/activate  # On Windows: .venv\Scripts\activate
   pip install -r requirements.txt
   

4. Make the scripts executable:

   chmod +x google_search_console_server.py
   chmod +x setup-credentials.sh
   

5. Set up service account credentials:

   ./setup-credentials.sh
   

   You can use an existing service account credentials file or paste the JSON directly.

Google API Credentials

Using an Existing Service Account

If you already have a service account (e.g., for Google Ads), you can reuse it for Search Console:

1. Run the setup script: ./setup-credentials.sh
2. Select option 1 or 2 to enter existing credentials.
3. Add the service account email address as a user to your Search Console property:
   • Go to Google Search Console.
   • Select the property.
   • Click Settings > Users and permissions.
   • Add the service account email address as a user.

Creating a New Service Account

If you don't have a service account:

1. Go to Google Cloud Console.
2. Create a new project or use an existing one.
3. Enable the Google Search Console API.
4. Create a service account.
5. Download the JSON credentials file.
6. Use the setup script to configure the credentials: ./setup-credentials.sh

💻 Usage Examples

Using with n8n

1. Open n8n and add an MCP client (STDIO) node to your workflow.
2. Configure the credentials:
   • Command: /pad/naar/.venv/bin/python (e.g., /home/username/google-search-console-mcp/.venv/bin/python)
   • Parameters: /pad/naar/google_search_console_server.py (e.g., /home/username/google-search-console-mcp/google_search_console_server.py)
   • Environment:

     SERVICE_ACCOUNT_JSON=/pad/naar/service_account_credentials.json
     

Example: Getting Top Search Queries

1. Add an MCP client node to your workflow.
2. Select the action "Execute Tool".
3. Select the tool: get_top_queries.
4. Parameters:

🔧 Technical Details

Security

• Service account credentials are saved locally and should be kept out of Git (using .gitignore).
• Always store the credentials.json file in a secure location.
• Only grant the necessary service accounts access to Search Console properties.
