🚀 Quick Start

📦 Installation

First, clone the code and install the dependencies. Assume you have a relatively new version of Nodejs installed:

git clone https://github.com/glifxyz/glif-mcp-server
cd glif-mcp-server
npm install
npm run build
# Now there is a build/index.js file, which is what we need to run.

Then, configure your MCP client (e.g., Claude Desktop) to load this server:

1. Obtain your API token from https://glif.app/settings/api-tokens.
2. Add the server to your Claude Desktop configuration file. On macOS, the path is: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

The following are some common tools for general glif running and information retrieval:

• run_glif - Execute a glif with inputs.
• glif_info - Retrieve detailed metadata of a glif, including input fields.
• list_featured_glifs - Retrieve a list of featured glifs.

Advanced Usage

The following are tools related to authenticated user glifs:

• my_glifs - Published glifs (excluding drafts) of the current user.
• my_liked_glifs - Glifs liked by the current user.
• my_runs - Public runs of the current user.

🔧 Development

Install Dependencies

npm install

Build the Server

npm run build

Feature Development with Automatic Rebuilding

npm run watch

Run the Test Suite (Not yet completed)

npm run test

Continuously Run Tests for Changes

npm run test:watch

Debugging

Since the MCP server communicates via standard input and output, debugging can be challenging. We recommend using MCP Inspector:

npm run inspector

The Inspector will provide a URL to access the debugging tool in the browser.

If you are using Claude Desktop, you can directly view the logs of the glif-mcp server.
