🚀 Go-based MCP Server Service

This is a server implementation compliant with the JSON-RPC 2.0 protocol for note management in the Model Context Protocol (MCP), presented as an example.

This is an example. You can modify this code and use it as boilerplate for your own project. It supports cross-platform development and includes a command-line interface and service components for development and release builds.

📦 Components

Command-line Interface (cmd)

The command-line interface provides direct access to the note server's functionality.

Service (service)

The service component implements system-level integration and background operation functions.

Resources

The server implements a note storage system, including:

• A custom note:// URI scheme for accessing individual notes
• Resource metadata (name, description, MIME type)
• Thread-safe concurrent access

Prompts

Available prompts:

• summarize-notes: Create a summary of all stored notes
  • Optional parameter: style ("brief"/"detailed")
  • Combine all current notes and display the results according to style preferences
  • Thread-safe note access

Tools

Available tools:

• add-note: Add a new note to the server
  • Required parameters: name (string), content (string)
  • Thread-safe state updates
  • Return confirmation information

🛠️ Build

Prerequisites

• Go 1.21 or higher
• GNU Make or other compatible build tools
• Git (for version information)

Build Commands

Development build (including debug symbols and race detection):

# Build all components for all platforms
make dev

# Build for a specific platform
make dev-windows
make dev-linux
make dev-darwin

# Build a specific component
make build-cmd
make build-service

Release build (optimized and stripped of symbols):

Run locally:

Build Output

Executable files are stored in the following directories:

• Development build: bin/
• Release build: dist/

⚙️ Configuration

Find the configuration file at the following location:

$XDG_CONFIG_HOME/mcnotes.json

By default, this is equivalent to:

~/.config/mcnotes.json
