Available Tools

get_software_list_tool - Retrieve the list of software installed on the computer.
- Return: A list of software names.
open_software - Open software by name.
- Required parameters:
  - name (string): The name of the software to open.
close_software - Close the running software with the specified name (currently only available on Windows).
- Required parameters:
  - name (string): The name of the software to close.

📦 Installation

Using uv (Recommended)

When using uv, no additional installation is required. We can directly use uvx to run mcp-software-server.

Installing via PIP

Alternatively, you can install the dependencies via pip:

Platform Support

🔧 Technical Details

The server creates and maintains a JSON file (software_list.json), which maps software names to their executable paths. On Windows, it scans shortcuts in the Start menu; on macOS and Linux, it searches in common application directories. Each identified software is recorded in the JSON file for use by the MCP server.
