🚀 MCP Gmail Server

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides access to Gmail, powered by MCP Python SDK.

This server exposes Gmail messages as MCP resources and offers various tools to interact with Gmail.

• Provide the compose_email tool to create new email drafts.

• Provide the search_emails tool to search for emails based on sender, recipient, subject, etc.

• Provide the mark_message_read tool to mark messages as read.

📦 Installation

Step 1: Install Dependencies

Use the uv command to synchronize the project and install all necessary dependencies:

uv sync

Step 2: Configure OAuth Credentials

1. Open the Google Cloud Console and create a new project.
2. Enable the Gmail API.
3. Go to the OAuth consent screen settings section and fill in the application information and scope of permissions.
4. Create an OAuth client ID and download the credentials.json file.

Step 3: Verify Configuration

Run the following command to ensure the configuration is correct:

python test_script.py

🚀 Start the Server

• Start the server in development mode:

  uv run server.py
  

• Install it into Claude Desktop:

  Configure the command attribute to the correct path of the uv executable file and set environment variables to point to the credentials.json and token.json files.
