A simple Python client for interacting with arXiv's MCP server.

This project is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) client that connects to arXiv's MCP server to perform arXiv searches. It uses Groq as a language model to process user queries and invokes appropriate server tools, operating within a chat-based interface.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Python 3.10.6 or higher
• A Groq API key

Steps

1. Clone this repository:

git clone https://github.com/om4r932/mcp-simple-arxiv-server.git
cd mcp-simple-arxiv-server

2. Install the dependencies:

pip install -r requirements.txt

📚 Documentation

Configuration

Create a .env file in the project root directory containing your Groq API key:

GROQ_API_KEY=your_groq_api_key

A .env.example file is provided as a template.

Usage

Run the client:

python client.py

This will launch an interactive chat interface where you can ask questions about scientific papers.

🔮 Future Updates

This repository will evolve and become a general MCP client, supporting simultaneous connections to multiple MCP servers (possibly transitioning to a FastAPI - type client). Stay tuned!
