A MCP server designed to provide agents with the current time and date.

🚀 Quick Start

Claude Desktop App

Add time_mcp_server.py to the MCP server list in the Claude desktop app configuration file ~/Library/Application\ 支持/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json as shown below:

Save the file and restart the Claude desktop app.

⚠️ Important Note

You may need to provide the full path to the uv executable in the command field. You can obtain this path by running which uv (MacOS/Linux) or where uv (Windows).

Custom Clients (or Other Systems)

Since this is a STDIO-based MCP server, the best approach is to implement a client targeting time_mcp_server.py, similar to how the official tutorial implements a client like weather.py.

💡 Why?

It seems useful and important for agents to know the current time and date. This enables agents to complete time-related tasks, such as "What time is it in Pacifica?" or "What will the weather be like in 3 hours?"

🛠️ Tools

Time-MCP provides two tools: get_datetime and get_current_unix_timestamp, which return the formatted date and time in a specified time zone (UTC if not specified) and the current UNIX timestamp, respectively.
