🚀 Korea Weather MCP Server

This MCP server is powered by the Short-Term Forecast Information Service API of the Korea Meteorological Administration. It can collect Korean weather information and provide services for MCP clients (hosts) such as Claude or Cursor through the MCP protocol. This server can be easily used in various application services that require weather information.

🚀 Quick Start

This server offers two installation methods: a simple installation via Smithery and a manual installation via GitHub.

Simple Installation via Smithery

1. Visit data.go.kr to apply for the Short-Term Forecast API of the Korea Meteorological Administration and obtain an API key.
2. Use the following command to install the server on Smithery and register it in Claude Desktop: During the installation process, if prompted to enter the API key, enter the key obtained earlier.

   npx -y @smithery/cli install @ohhan777/korea_weather --client claude
   

3. Restart Claude Desktop to start using the server.

Manual Installation via GitHub

1. Visit data.go.kr to apply for the Short-Term Forecast API of the Korea Meteorological Administration and obtain an API key.

2. Download the source code from github and run it:

   git clone https://github.com/ohhan777/korea_weather.git
   cd korea_weather
   uv run korea_weather.py
   

3. Add the server to your MCP client (host):

   • For Claude Desktop: The configuration file is usually located at C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json (the file will be created automatically if it doesn't exist).
   • For Cursor: Select the gear icon (⚙️) at the top → MCP → Add a new global MCP server.

   Edit the configuration file according to the following example (adjust the directory path and API key based on your actual situation):
