📦 Installation

Local Installation

npx -y @mkusaka/mcp-notify-server

Global Installation

npm install -g @mkusaka/mcp-notify-server

📚 Configuration

Cursor Configuration

Add the following content to your Cursor configuration file (~/.cursor/config.json):

Rule Configuration

Add the following content to your Cursor rules file:

Use "notify" to play a sound for notification every time user attention is needed.
 - When user approval is required to run a tool.
 - When a task is completed.
 - Do not play more than one prompt sound for notification.

🔧 Technical Details

Development Setup

cd mcp-notify-server
npm install
npm run build

Testing

You can use mcp-inspector to interactively test the MCP server:

npm run inspect

This allows you to test the server's tools and functions in an interactive environment.

Available Scripts

• npm run build - Build the project.
• npm run start - Start the server.
• npm run dev - Start the development mode (with monitoring).
• npm run inspect - Start the interactive inspection mode.

💡 Usage Tip

⚠️ Important Note

• Currently, only the macOS system is supported.
• Prompt sound notifications rely on the judgment of the large language model, which may lead to:
  • Unexpectedly early or delayed notification timing.
  • Occasionally missing prompts.
  • Possible differences in behavior.
