📦 Installation

1️⃣ Clone the repository

git clone https://github.com/KartikeyM18/mcp-server-tester.git
cd mcp-server-tester

2️⃣ Install dependencies

cd backend
npm install

cd frontend
npm install

3️⃣ Run the backend server

cd backend
node src/index.js

By default, the backend runs on http://localhost:3000.

4️⃣ Create a .env file for the frontend

Simply create a .env file in the frontend folder and add the following content:

VITE_API_URL=http://localhost:3000/check-mcp

5️⃣ Run the frontend

npm run dev  

🔧 Technical Details

Front - end

• Receive JSON input from users.
• Send MCP server configurations to the backend via API requests.
• Display the status of MCP servers run by the backend.

Back - end

• Receive JSON input from the frontend.
• Execute MCP server test commands using spawn(command, args).
• Connect to MCP servers via WebSocket to obtain available tools.
• Return the results to the frontend.
