🚀 MCP Gating Gateway, Server, and Client

As long as the Claude desktop version does not support connecting to remote servers, you can use this script to bridge the connection from standard input/output (stdio) to the HTTP Server-Sent Events (SSE) endpoint.

This bridging script is based on Node.js, but your server code can be written in any language. It serves as a gating gateway for the Model Context Protocol that bridges the transport from stdio to HTTP SSE src/mcp-server-and-gw.ts.

📦 Installation

Install mcp-server-and-gw

# 1. Install globally
npm install -g mcp-server-and-gw
# 2. Or run directly with npx
npx mcp-server-and-gw http://localhost:8808/
# ...or configure via environment variables
MCP_HOST=localhost MCP_PORT=8808 npx mcp-server-and-gw

💻 Usage Examples

Add Configuration in Claude

## 1. Build the project
yarn install
yarn build

## 2. Copy the code or update claude_desktop_config.json
##    Note: Ensure npx is in the PATH, or use the full path like /opt/homebrew/bin/npx

## 3. Start the server so that Claude can connect and discover resources, tools, etc.

## 4. Start the Claude desktop version

Example Server and Client

You can also develop an SSE server independently of the Claude desktop version for faster iteration. For example, run src/server.ts and use src/client.ts as the client.

After starting the server, when you start the client in another terminal, you will see the server's output.

Test with MCP Inspector

Run the following commands simultaneously to start the Inspector and the bridging tool:

node ./build/mcp-server-and-gw.js
npx mcp-inspector

In this way, you can monitor and debug the interaction process of the Model Context Protocol.
