• Connect directly to a single MSSQL database instance. Configuration is done via environment variables.
• Provide the following tools:
  • List tables (list_tables).
  • Get table schema (get_table_schema).
  • Perform CRUD operations (read_table_rows, create_table_records, update_table_records, delete_table_records).

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Node.js (v18 or higher is recommended).
• npm (usually provided with Node.js).
• Access to a Microsoft SQL Server instance.
• Install the necessary MSSQL ODBC drivers on the machine running the server.

Steps

1. Clone the repository:

git clone <repository-url>
cd mcp-server-mssql

2. Install dependencies:

npm install

Configuration

1. Environment Variables: All configurations are done through environment variables.
   • Copy .env.example to .env.
   • Fill in the required MSSQL connection information:
     • MSSQL_HOST
     • MSSQL_PORT (default is 1433 if not set)
     • MSSQL_USER
     • MSSQL_PASSWORD
     • MSSQL_DATABASE
   • Optionally configure other MSSQL options (MSSQL_DRIVER, MSSQL_ENCRYPT, MSSQL_TRUST_SERVER_CERTIFICATE) and logging options (LOG_LEVEL). Refer to .env.example for details.

Usage

1. Build TypeScript code:

npm run build

2. Run the server:

npm start

Or in a development environment:

npm run dev

3. Connect via an MCP client: Configure your MCP client (e.g., Roo) to connect to this server via standard input and output.
