🚀 Windows 10 MCP Server Log Persistence Solution

This project aims to solve the issue of log persistence for the MCP server in a Windows 10 environment. When using the MCP server, Claude might not fully write to files, causing intermediate files to be overwritten and unrecoverable. Here's how the problem is addressed:

Step 1: Create Logging Functionality

To ensure that every operation is logged to the hard drive, a new logger.mjs file was created. This script automatically creates a logs directory and appends all log information to a file named KAN_server.log.

Code Explanation:

• Use the fs.promises module for asynchronous file operations.
• Ensure the logs directory exists to avoid path errors.
• Define a log file and use the appendFile method to add content to it.

Step 2: Modify write_file Logic in index.js

In the index.js file, the write_file operation logic was modified to achieve the following:

1. Path Validation: Ensure the incoming file path is valid.
2. File Backup: Before writing new content, check if the existing file exists and generate a backup file name with the date and time.
3. Logging: Record all key operations in the log file.

Modified Logic Flow:

1. Parse the incoming parameters to ensure they meet the requirements.
2. Validate the target file path.
3. Check if the file exists:
   • If it exists, generate a backup file name with the date and time and rename the original file.
   • If it doesn't exist, write the new content directly.
4. After writing the new content, record success or failure information in the log file.

Backup File Name Generation Rule

To ensure that backup file names are unique and easy to identify, the following format is used:

[Month][Day][Last two digits of Year]_[Hour][Minute]__CLDBak

For example: 032524_14_59__CLDBak

Response Returned to Claude Desktop App

To ensure that the Claude desktop app can display information correctly, the returned content must be in JSON format. The modifications made ensure this and include backup file information in the response text.
