🚀 MCP Server - Coda.io Implementation

An implementation of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, designed for seamless integration with Coda's API, offering a variety of tools for document, table, and data management.

📦 Prerequisites

• Node.js (v20 or higher)
• Coda API Key
• Knowledge of TypeScript (for development)

🛠️ Environment Configuration

1. Clone or fork this repository on Replit.
2. Create a .env file in the root directory:

   PORT=8000
   CODA_API_KEY=your_coda_api_key
   

3. Replace your_coda_api_key_here with your actual Coda API key.

📥 Installing Dependencies

This project uses npm for dependency management. To install dependencies:

npm install

🔨 Building the Project

Compile TypeScript files to JavaScript:

npx tsc

🚀 Starting the Server

Start the server after the build is complete:

node dist/index.js

Or use the combined command:

npm install && npx tsc && node dist/index.js

The server will run on the default port 8000, providing the following endpoints:

• GET /sse - Server-Sent Events connection endpoint
• POST /messages - Message processing endpoint

💻 Available Tools

1. fetch-coda-docs

   • Retrieve all available Coda documents.
   • Optional parameters: isOwner, limit

2. fetch-coda-tables

   • Fetch all tables from a specified document.
   • Required parameter: docId

3. fetch-coda-table

   • Get a specific table from a document.
   • Required parameters: docId, tableId

4. fetch-coda-table-columns

   • Obtain column information for a specific table.
   • Required parameters: docId, tableId

5. fetch-coda-rows

   • Retrieve rows from a specified table.
   • Required parameters: docId, tableId

6. upsert-coda-rows

   • Insert or update rows in a table.
   • Required parameters: docId, tableId, rows

7. delete-coda-rows

   • Delete specified rows from a table.
   • Required parameters: docId, tableId, rowIds

🚀 Running the Example

1. Install dependencies:

   npm install express @modelcontextprotocol/sdk dotenv
   

2. Set up the .env file.
3. Start the server:

   npm start
   

At this point, you should be able to access http://localhost:8000/sse or http://localhost:8000/messages in your browser or API testing tool and see the corresponding responses.

⚠️ Important Note

• Ensure the security of your Coda API key and do not store it in plain text in the version control system.
• In a production environment, add error handling and logging mechanisms as needed.
• If you encounter issues, check the console output or log files for more information.
