🚀 mcp-installer - A Server for Installing MCP Servers

This server enables you to install other MCP servers. After installation, you can instruct Claude to install MCP servers hosted on npm or PyPi for you. You need to pre - install npx and uv to support Node.js and Python servers respectively.

📦 Installation

Add the following content to your claude_desktop_config.json file (located at ~/Library/Application Support/Claude on macOS or C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Roaming\Claude on Windows):

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

Here are some example prompts you can use with Claude to install MCP servers:

• Hi Claude, install the MCP server named mcp-server-fetch.
• Hi Claude, install the @modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem package as an MCP server. Use [/Users/yodablocks/Desktop] as an argument.
• Hello Claude, please help me install the MCP server located at /Users/anibetts/code/mcp-youtube. I'm too lazy to do it myself.
• Install the MCP server named @modelcontextprotocol/server-github. Set the environment variable GITHUB_PERSONAL_ACCESS_TOKEN to '1234567890'.
