What is the NestJS MCP Server?
The NestJS MCP Server is an implementation of a microservice architecture specifically designed to provide context-aware capabilities for large language models (LLMs). Through the Model Context Protocol, AI applications can obtain real-time context information (such as the current time). How to use the MCP Server?
You need to run both the MCP server and the client service simultaneously. The server provides context capabilities, and the client integrates these capabilities into LangChain applications.Use cases
Suitable for applications that need to add real-time context information to AI conversations, such as time-sensitive Q&A and location-related answers.Main features
Time context
Provides accurate time zone time query function, supporting time queries around the world
Multiple server connections
The client can connect to multiple MCP servers simultaneously to expand the function set
Automatic reconnection
Built-in automatic reconnection mechanism to ensure connection recovery after service interruption
Advantages
Lightweight microservice architecture, easy to expand
Seamless integration with LangChain
Supports SSE (Server-Sent Events) protocol, good real-time performance
Limitations
Currently, the functions are relatively basic and need to be expanded by yourself
Multiple services need to be run simultaneously to use it completely
How to use
Install dependencies
Make sure Node.js v20 or higher is installed, then run npm install to install all dependencies
Configure environment variables
Copy the.env.example file to.env and add your OpenAI API key
Start the MCP server
Start the MCP server in a terminal window
Start the MCP client
Start the MCP client in another terminal window
Usage examples
Query the current time
Get the current time in a specific area
Multiple server configuration
Connect to multiple MCP servers to expand functions
Frequently Asked Questions
