This is a TypeScript-based MCP server that implements a simple note-taking system. It demonstrates core MCP concepts in the following ways:

• List and access note resources with titles, content, and metadata via the note:// URI.
• Provide a tool to create new notes.
• Offer a prompting feature to automatically generate note summaries.

Tools

• create_note - Create a new text note.
  • Requires two parameters: title and content.
  • Stores the note in the server state.

Prompts

• summarize_notes - Generate a summary of all stored notes.
  • Includes all note content as embedded resources.
  • Returns a structured prompt for the LLM to summarize.

📦 Installation

Development

Install dependencies:

npm install

Build the server:

npm run build

Development with auto-rebuild:

npm run watch

Usage on Claude Desktop

To use it on Claude Desktop, add the following to the configuration file:

Debugging

Since MCP servers communicate via standard input and output, debugging can be challenging. We recommend using MCP Inspector, which can be run via the package script:

npm run inspector

The Inspector will provide a URL for a debugging tool that can be accessed in the browser.
