🚀 MCP Server

An MCP server implemented in Python, providing the current US dollar exchange rate, weather forecast, and news from the past week.

🚀 Quick Start

📦 Installation

1. Clone the repository:

   git clone https://github.com/Cavumnigrum/mcp_server_project.git
   cd mcp_server_project
   

2. Create a virtual environment:

   python -m venv venv
   source venv/bin/activate  # For Linux/Mac systems
   venv\Scripts\activate     # For Windows systems
   

3. Install dependencies:

   pip install -r requirements.txt
   

4. Configure API keys:

   • Register on the following platforms to obtain keys:
     • exchangerate-api.com for the US dollar exchange rate.
     • openweathermap.org for the weather forecast.
     • newsapi.org for news.
   • Copy the .env.example file and rename it to .env, then fill in your keys:

     cp .env.example .env
     

5. Start the server:

   python mcp_server.py
   

   The server will run at http://localhost:8000.

💻 Testing

Run tests using pytest:

pytest test_mcp_server.py -v

💻 Client Connection

Run the custom client:

python mcp_client.py

• After starting the client, instructions on how to use it will be displayed.

📚 Additional Information

The project includes Docker files to create containers. The steps to operate the Docker files are as follows:

1. Ensure that the necessary docker and docker-compose software is installed.
2. Navigate to the project directory:

   cd 项目路径
   

3. Start the server and client containers:

   docker-compose up -d server
   docker-compose run --rm client
   

4. After finishing, use the following command to stop and remove the containers:

   docker-compose down server client
