🚀 OpenDota MCP Server

An implementation of a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for accessing OpenDota API data. This server enables large language models (LLMs) and AI assistants to obtain real-time Dota 2 statistics, match data, player information, etc., through a standard interface.

📦 Installation

# Clone the repository

uv add pyproject.toml

💻 Usage Examples

Set up the environment

1. (Optional but recommended) Create an OpenDota API key at https://www.opendota.com/api-keys.
2. Set your API key as an environment variable:

export OPENDOTA_API_KEY=your_api_key_here

Run the server directly

python -m src.opendota_server.server

Run the server with Claude Desktop

If you are using WSL, assuming you have cloned the repository and set up the Python environment, here is an example I've written for claude_desktop_config.json:

• get_player_peers: Get other players who have played with a specified player.
• get_heroes: Get a list of all Dota 2 heroes.
