A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for executing Python code and managing Python environments. This server allows Claude and other large language models to run Python code, manage files, and interact with Python packages.

📦 Prerequisites

📦 Installation Guide

Clone the Repository

git clone https://github.com/Timtech4u/python-mcp-server.git
cd python-mcp-server

Install Dependencies

npm install

Build the Project

npm run build

📚 Configuration Instructions

Configuration for Claude Desktop

1. Open the config.json file.
2. Add the following content:

3. Save the file.

Configuration for Cline

1. Open the terminal and run the command:

   mcp-config set pythonPath=C:\Python39\python.exe

Available Tools

Execute Python Code

• Parameters:
  • code (string, required): The Python code to execute.
  • timeout (number, optional): The timeout in seconds, default is 30 seconds.

Execute Python File

• Parameters:
  • filePath (string, required): The path of the Python file to execute.
  • args (array, optional): Command-line arguments passed to the script.

🔧 Troubleshooting

Python Not Found

If you encounter an error saying "Python is not installed", ensure that Python is correctly installed and added to the system PATH environment variable.

Permission Issues

If you encounter permission errors, check if the user running the MCP server has sufficient file access permissions.

Timeout Issues

The default timeout is 30 seconds. If you need to extend it, specify the timeout parameter in the request.
