🚀 DNStwist MCP Server

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for dnstwist, a powerful DNS fuzzing tool that helps detect typosquatting, phishing, and corporate espionage. This server provides tools to analyze domain variants and identify potentially malicious domains. It is designed to seamlessly integrate with MCP-compatible applications such as Claude Desktop.

🚀 Quick Start

Prerequisites

1. Check Docker

   docker --version
   docker ps
   

2. Docker Permissions
   • Ensure the current user has permission to run Docker commands.
   • On Linux, add the user to the docker group:

     sudo usermod -aG docker $USER
     

Installation Steps

1. Install Docker

   curl -fsSL https://get.docker.com | bash -s docker
   

2. Start the Docker service

   sudo systemctl start docker
   sudo systemctl enable docker
   

3. Pull the DNStwist image

   docker pull dnstwist/mcp-server
   

4. Run the DNStwist server

   docker run -it dnstwist/mcp-server

• Supports multiple DNS operations (queries, resolutions, etc.).

⚠️ Important Note

• Docker is not installed or not running: Please install Docker and start the Docker daemon first.
• Unable to parse dnstwist output: Check if the domain is valid and correctly formatted.
• Failed to execute dnstwist: Check the Docker logs and ensure the permissions are correctly configured.
• DNS server is unresponsive: Verify the accessibility of the DNS server and try other DNS servers.

Common Issues

1. Docker fails to start

   • Increase memory or CPU resources.
