🚀 Google Calendar Server Based on MCP Protocol

This is an integration server for Google Calendar based on the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It enables MCP clients like Claude Desktop to add schedules to Google Calendar.

This server allows MCP clients to interact with Google Calendar. Here are the steps to get it up and running:

📦 Installation

Step 1: Clone the repository

git clone [Repository URL]
cd mcp-server-google-calendar

Step 2: Install dependencies

npm install

Step 3: Set environment variables

Create a .env file and add the following content:

GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID=Your client ID
GOOGLE_CLIENT_SECRET=Your client secret

Google Cloud Console Setup

1. Visit Google Cloud Console to create a new project.
2. Enable the Google Calendar API.
3. Create an OAuth 2.0 client ID:
   • Application type: Select "Desktop app"
   • Add the generated client ID and secret to the .env file.

Claude Desktop Configuration

Step 1: Install Claude Desktop

• Download Claude Desktop
• The MCP feature is only available in the desktop application.

Step 2: Configure the MCP server

Create or edit the ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json file and add the following content:

Step 3: Enable the new service

After starting Claude Desktop, visit the "MCP Services" tab in the settings to enable this new service.

Debugging

Step 1: Enable developer tools

Step 2: Open debugging tools

In developer mode, access Command - Option - Shift - i to open the debugging tools.

Error Handling

The server will return appropriate error messages in the following situations:

• When Google authentication is required
• When the time format is incorrect
• When required parameters are missing
• When a Google Calendar API call fails

Logging

The server uses the Pino logger to record the following information:

• Server startup and shutdown
• Tool calls and responses
• Authentication process
• Error and exception situations

Development Environment Configuration

Step 1: Build TypeScript

npm run build

Step 2: Start development mode (auto - restart)

npm run dev

Troubleshooting

Server connection issues

• Check the Claude Desktop logs
• Confirm that the server process is running
• Double - check the environment variable settings
• Ensure that absolute paths are used

Authentication issues

• Check if the API is enabled in the Google Cloud Console
• Re - confirm the client ID and secret
• Confirm the OAuth consent screen settings
