This README provides a step-by-step guide on installing UV and setting up an MCP server for your Python project.

To install UV, run the following command:

Basic Usage

Create a Python Project

# Create a Python project named mcp-server-demo
uv init mcp-server-demo

Install the MCP SDK

# Navigate to the mcp-server-demo project directory
cd mcp-server-demo
# Add the MCP SDK to the mcp-server-demo project
uv add "mcp[cli]"

Build the MCP Server

Create a server.py file (the file name can be arbitrary):

mv main.py server.py

Add the following code to server.py:

from mcp.server.fastmcp import FastMCP

# Create an MCP server with debugging capabilities
mcp = FastMCP("Demo", debug=True)

# Add an addition tool
@mcp.tool()
def add(a: int, b: int) -> int:
    """Add two numbers"""
    return a + b

# Add this code to run the server
if __name__ == "__main__":
    # Start the server using stdio transport

Register the MCP Server with Cline

Edit the MCP file of the Cline project as follows:
