🚀 JBassist - Microsoft Graph MCP Server

A Windows-compatible MCP server implementation that allows Claude Desktop to connect to Microsoft 365 services via the Microsoft Graph API.

🔍 Overview

This project is an MCP server that enables Claude Desktop to connect to Microsoft 365 services through the Microsoft Graph API. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a protocol used to transfer information between different systems.

🛠️ Standard API Tools

This implementation includes the following standard Microsoft Graph API features:

• Retrieving user profile information
• Sending and receiving emails
• Calendar operations
• Accessing file storage

🧪 Beta API Tools

This implementation also includes the following beta version Microsoft Graph API features:

• Enhanced user profile information
• Organizational relationship graph
• User status and presence information
• Advanced search functionality

📋 Prerequisites

To use this MCP server, you need the following prerequisites:

1. Install Node.js and npm (Version requirements: Node >= 14, npm >= 6)
2. Install TypeScript (optional but recommended)
3. Install the Microsoft Graph client library
4. Create an Azure AD app registration and obtain an access token

⚙️ Setup Steps

1. Clone this repository to your local development environment.
2. Create a .env file in the project root directory and fill in the following content:

   TENANT_ID=your_tenant_id
   CLIENT_ID=your_client_id
   CLIENT_SECRET=your_client_secret
   

3. Install dependencies: Run the command npm install
4. Start the server: Run the command npm start

🚀 How to Run the Server

• After the server starts, it will output relevant information in the console and listen on the specified port.
• You can adjust the server's port number and log level through the configuration file.

Basic Usage

🐞 Troubleshooting

1. Authentication errors: Check if the Azure AD app credentials in the .env file are correct.
2. Permission errors: Ensure that your Azure AD app has the necessary permissions.
3. Connection issues: Confirm that you have clicked the MCP authorization button prompted by Claude Desktop.
4. Log files: Check the graph-server.log file for detailed error information.

🛠️ Development Information

Modifying the Server or Adding New Features

1. Edit the files in the src directory.
2. Add new tools in src/index.ts following the existing pattern.
3. Rebuild the project: Run the command npm run build
4. Restart the server.

Adding New Beta API Features

1. Refer to the Microsoft Graph beta API documentation.
2. Use the graphBetaClient instance to make beta API calls.
3. Since the beta API may change, conduct thorough testing and error handling.

This server implements basic functions, but Microsoft Graph provides more endpoints. For example:
